Notary Fees

Notary Public Fees

This page refers to notary public fees and does not refers to Signing Agent fees.

As regulated by Florida State, a single notary public fee is $10 per signature.

As a MOBILE NOTARY, Travel/Time fees are additional.

Mobile notary travel and time fees are:

$20 (up to 10 miles),$30 (up to 20 miles) and $40 up to 30 miles).

Example: 1 signature $10 plus $20 (between 10 miles distance) from my zip code 32819, total is $30 dollars.

1. Travel fees are separate from notarization fees.

Fees for notarizations are regulated by state law. But travel fees are separate from the notarization fee, and I treat them as such. Florida State allows for an acknowledgment is $10 and if signer ask me to drive to their town, I could charge a travel/ time additional fee as stated above for the notarial act. The amount for driving to the signer's location remains separate and it is not lumped together with the notarization fee.

2. Agree on the travel fee in advance.

It is my practice to agree upon the amount with the signer before the notarization takes place. Florida’s Reference Manual for Notaries states that if Notaries charge fees for other services not directly related to the notarization, the Notary must provide the customer with an itemized list of charges beforehand.

3. Explain your policy if the notarization is not completed.

I also let the signer know in advance about my policy regarding charging travel fees if the notarization can’t be completed. I do you still charge a travel fee if I arrive at the appointment but the notarization has to be rescheduled or canceled. Same if the signer lacks proper ID, preventing me from completing the notarization.

4. I request payment in advance.

In order to avoid fee disputes I request payment of the travel fee in advance. That way, I am sure to receive payment for my driving time and fuel expenses even if the notarization cannot be completed.
I accept cash, Zelle ( bank to bank transfer) or cash app.

5. Recording the travel fee.

It is my routine to record the travel fee in my journal entry whether it is required or not, and I make sure that the fee amount is clearly identified as “travel” and is listed separately from the notarization fee.
